Dear Friends and Followers,
As I mentioned in my last post a few months ago, I took a break from Substack over the summer. I spent the summer doing lots of cycling, participating in several local races and events, including the Whistler Gran Fondo a few weeks ago and the Tour de Victoria in August. I loved getting back into the world of cycling. I started road racing when I was 19 years old, eventually transitioning to mountain bike racing in my 30s. I always feel like a kid when I’m out on my bike, it helps keep my spirit young. And it was wonderful to see many other grey-haired riders at all the various events this summer.
This fall I’ll be spending some time getting into the local standup comedy scene. A new friend, who just turned 80 and took up standup comedy last year (she’s truly youngish at heart!), encouraged me to sign up for a comedy class. At the end of the class, we’ll be performing a show in front of an audience of 250 or so people which should be a lot of fun.
For several reasons, I’ve decided not to keep this OWYAH Substack active any more. I’m enjoying spending time on other hobbies and passion projects these days. In the past year, I’ve also experienced some negative impacts from life in the online world and don’t wish to engage much there anymore.
Thanks for following along. I’m happy to connect with friends on Facebook where I still maintain a presence.
Be well,
Heather
